Tips for Sensitive Skin this Spring
It’s Spring already!
While Spring is a beautiful time of year, with the sun shining and flowers blooming it can also stir up sensitive skin!
Spring for many people means allergies and skin irritations caused by pollen.
Pollen is a fine powder released by plants during the spring season to fertilize other plants. It can travel long distances through the air and can trigger allergic reactions in some people. Allergic reactions to pollen can cause symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and skin irritations.
If you have sensitive skin here are some tips to help you care for your skin during the spring season.
Sunscreen & Sun Protection
It is important to protect your skin from the sun. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and reapply every two hours if you are spending time outside. Don’t forget to wear a hat during the peak hours of sun exposure too!
Skin Care Products
Be mindful of the products you use on your skin. Switch to fragrance-free and hypoallergenic products, and avoid anything with harsh ingredients such as alcohol or retinoids.
It is important to keep your skin clean and moisturised to reduce the risk of irritation.
Use a good quality gentle cleanser and moisturiser that will not strip your skin of its natural oils.
Hydration & Diet
Pay attention to your diet and hydration. Drinking enough water will help keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Avoid spicy or acidic foods that may trigger flare-ups or skin irritation.
